EHF EURO 2028 Qualifiers: Saturday Showdown and Sunday Marathon

Analiza

The second round of the Men’s EHF EURO 2028 qualification kicks off this weekend, with three matches slated for Saturday, 7 November, and a full slate of thirteen on Sunday, 8 November. The games decide which national teams will join the final tournament set for Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. Finland, never before reaching a final tournament, hosts Croatia, a side that has won all six previous encounters and comes off an 18‑goal victory over Lithuania. Slovenia seeks a historic second home win against Israel, while Belgium travels to Italy. Several clubs, including SC Magdeburg, have players on both sides of the draw, notably the Croatian goalkeepers Matej Mandic and Dominik Kuzmanovic who will face Finland on Saturday.

Kontekst i Tło

Croatia enters the match as clear favorites, but Finland’s recent 11‑goal haul from Miska Henriksson against the Netherlands could make the contest tighter. Slovenia’s win would make them the first team with two home victories in the campaign, boosting their qualification hopes. Montenegro, after a loss to Hungary, will look for their first points against the Faroe Islands on Sunday. The packed Sunday programme includes high‑stakes clashes such as Serbia versus Ukraine and Greece versus North Macedonia, all of which will shape the group standings ahead of the final tournament.
